Hand educator is state’s top middleschool assistant principal

Karis Mazyck, an assistant principal at Richland 1's Hand Middle School, was named Wednesday as South Carolina's 2010 Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year.
Mazyck, now in her fourth year at Hand, was surprised with the award during a presentation in the school's media center by Molly Spearman, executive director of the S.C. Association of School Administrators. Mazyck was praised for devising initiatives to improve academics, attendance and evaluation of teachers.
